Great Sundew Drosera anglica
Three species of sundew are native to Britain, and this is the scarcest and most localised – most populations are found in North-West Scotland.
Wood Horsetail Equisetum sylvaticum
Holt Lowes is the only site in East Anglia for this deliacte horsetail. It is another species that is more at home in the north and west of Britain.
Common Wintergreen Pyrola minor
Anything but common in the east of England, the Lowes is again the only site in East Anglia for the species which is most at home in boreal forests.
Shinning Hookeria Hookeria lucens
A very distinctive moss, first recorded on the Lowes over 200 years ago. It is named for William Jackson Hooker, who found it on the Lowes when he was a schoolboy. He went on to become the first director of Kew Gardens.
