It particularly favours Bell heather as a nectar source. They are parasitic on digger wasps, the female creeping into a wasp burrow when the female is absent. They eggs hatch into larvae which pasasitize the digger wasp larvae<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cerceris arenaria &#8211; A digger wasp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cerceris arenaria - Spider Hunting wasp\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eyWQaZ9cjeo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is quite a common wasp on the Lowes. You will notice the burrows it makes in the sandy soil, especially on the tracks. The females do this and they catch weevils to provision the burrows for their larva which will hatch out from the eggs the females lay.
