If you would like to contribute pictures  or stories to this section then please email David Horsley <a href=\"mailto:davidth@holtlowes.org\">davidth@holtlowes.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will work on the basis of 4 seasons<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/?page_id=161\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"161\">Winter (Dec-Feb)<\/a>   <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Winter is a relatively quiet time on the Lowes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"959\" height=\"719\" src=\"https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Wren006184.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-435 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Wren006184.jpg 959w, https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Wren006184-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Wren006184-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Wren006184-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 959px) 100vw, 959px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Birds are generally quiet, but the resident species like Wrens and Robins are busy finding food &#8211; often spiders &#8211; in the heath areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kestrels and Buzzards will be active all this period<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The reptiles will be hibernating so will not be visible. Adders underground and grass snakes in the piles of rotting vegetation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep a watch out for the ponies nibbling last summer&#8217; gorse growth <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/?page_id=147\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"147\">Spring (March-May)<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The busiest organisms are the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/holtlowes.org\/?page_id=385\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"385\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reptiles<\/a><\/strong> in the early part of this period. When the reptiles come out of hibernation depends very much on temperature. It is possible yo see adders basking on a warm January morning. An evening visitshould provide the opportunity to hear Nightjars and woodcock roding<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 52%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Look out for Silver-washed Fritillaries. They are a recent recolonist and lay their eggs on violets &#8211; mostly in the Country Park.
